High-risk silage (category 2)
Receipt

The demand for the raw material in the high-risk group is that all the fish, or the refuse of the fish that cannot be used for the production of the low-risk silage, can however be used for the high-risk silage. This means that fish dead from accident and sickness, besides the refuse of sick fish, can be used for the production of high-risk silage.

Pressure sterilization
From the raw material storage tank the silage is pumped to a press sterilizer. The press sterilizer is filled up in batches. When the press sterilizer is filled up, the damp is released in the grill cover on the press sterilizer. The silage is boiled for 20 minutes at 133 ºC, and 3 bar pressure. After the silage has been boiled, it is pumped to the goods tanks.

The silage is for the most part exported abroad, where it will be used for mink feed or for biogas production. The last few years the sterilized silage has also partly been used by the farmers to spread manure, and the farmers have been very pleased with the results.
