Salmon Proteins was established in 2001 by the sea farming industry and others in the Faroe Islands, as a part of the veterinary agreement with the EEC.

Work

The purpose of the company is to collect all the fish entrails from the sea farming industry in the Faroe Islands, collect them all in one place, and process this by the demands at present from the authorities and the buyers.

We must steer toward a sustainable utilization of these resources, for the benefit of the industry and the environment.

Our objective

The objective of the company is to follow all relevant laws and demands.

The company is located at the harbour in a small town called Eiði. The fish entrails or the silage that the company collects is transferred with a road tanker from the mariculture and gut companies around the country, north to the town of Eiði. After the transfer, the silage is then pumped in a closed arrangement in a storage tank at the company.

As a part of the increased sea farming industry and the need for a common solution on the challenge of sick and fish dead from accidents, men gathered to establish the company that collected all refuse from fish and ensilage on one place. This, so that the receipt and further sale or the transfer of the products all have been gathered in Eiði since 2002.
